Privacy Policy

StoryLoft ("we," "our," or "us") is a reading quiz app for children. We take your family's privacy seriously. This policy explains what we collect, what we don't, and how we use the information we do have.

1. What We Collect

• Parent account information — email address and authentication credentials, managed securely through Clerk.
• Child profiles — first name and age group (e.g., "elementary"), entered by the parent. We do not collect birthdates or any other identifying information about children.
• Quiz activity — book titles quizzed, scores, and reading progress for each child profile.
• Reading list — books saved by the parent to a child's "To Read" list.

2. What We Don't Collect

• We do not collect children's real names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any contact information.
• We do not use advertising networks or sell data to third parties.
• We do not track location.
• We do not use cookies or cross-app tracking.

3. How We Use It

Information is used solely to provide app features — saving quiz results, tracking reading progress, and generating age-appropriate book recommendations. We do not use your data for advertising or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Who We Share With

• Clerk — authentication provider. Handles parent login securely. Clerk Privacy Policy.
• Anthropic — AI provider used to generate book recommendations. Queries contain only the book title and age tier — no personal information. Anthropic Privacy Policy.
• Railway — cloud hosting for our backend and database.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any other parties.

5. Children's Data (COPPA)

StoryLoft is designed for use by children under the supervision and control of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All account creation and data entry is performed by the parent. Parental consent is required within the app before any child profile is created.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child without parental consent, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

6. Data Retention

Your account data is retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us. Child profiles and quiz history will be permanently deleted within 30 days of your request.
